Het originele anker van de eerste Belgica heeft een ereplaats gekregen op de Oosteroever in Oostende.
Dat gebeurde in anwezigheid van gouverneur Carl Decaluwé
Het iconische maritieme erfgoed herinnert aan de legendarische Belgica-expeditie van 1897-1899, toen het schip als eerste ooit overwinterde in Antarctica.
